Call for papers11th Conference Atlas AFMI Association Francophone de Management International Online conference, Supported by Universidad de La Sabana, Bogotá, Colombia, 3-5 May 2021 “Pandemic, sustainable development and international management”
Conference Chairs Loyda L. Gómez Santos (U. La Sabana, Colombia), Philippe Very (Edhec Business School, France)
Call for papers General theme of the conference Since 2019, economic actors worldwide have significantly increased their sustainability awareness, as well as the world preservation and social wellness. For instance, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), encouraged companies to address the negative social and environmental impacts associated with their activities, their supply chains and other trade relationships (OECD, 2018)[1]. The integration of sustainability and social responsibility in decision-making has reoriented companies towards the management of stakeholders, generating stronger cooperation between public and private organizations, at local, regional, national, and international levels. These processes require organizations to implement models such as circular economy and sustainable development. Then, in the first quarter of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic suddenly began to spread worldwide, leading to political lockdown decisions in many countries and reflections on the appropriateness of global value chains in times of uncertainty and high risk of product shortage. Industries such as oil and gas, air transportation or tourism almost collapsed, with no certainty about their recovery. This international economic outbreak brought social vulnerability, with many employees losing their jobs. In consequence, how will organizations respond to pandemic sustainability efforts after the crisis? Will companies have as a priority the economic turnaround and reorganization of their international operations? How will they cope with social impact? Will stakeholders maintain their investments for environment preservation? Which organizations will remain at the core of international management?
